Hope it all goes well for you.

I invite you to learn all you can about Jaspersoft - and then give us feedback. We are surely trying to build better BI: more simply and more powerfully. Check out our Cloud BI announcement this week as the latest testimony: www.jaspersoft.com/cloudBrian Gentilehttp://www.jaspersoft.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7053946612746310477.post-83139483994888948172009-08-13T01:09:34.043-07:002009-08-13T01:09:34.043-07:00Correct! The pricing model is definitely geared to the vendors' need to survive, not to value for the clients. Only once did I see a client return a box of mainframe tapes. The rest of the time they grimace and bear the annual pain. Just recently I project managed an open source implementation of a Learning Management System called Moodle. What a refreshing change. I need to know more about Jaspersoft for sure! davidneedham@optusnet.com.auAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7053946612746310477.post-36761378580356527122009-07-07T13:40:21.791-07:002009-07-07T13:40:21.791-07:00Kyle - yes, the mis-perceptions about open source ...Kyle - yes, the mis-perceptions about open source still abound, unfortunately. We all need to work to overcome. Forrester's Jeffrey Hammond is interviewed today and provides good insight on open source progress in the enterprise: http://radar.oreilly.com/2009/07/open-source-is-infiltrating-th.htmlBrian Gentilehttp://www.jaspersoft.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7053946612746310477.post-49820388010674448702009-07-06T11:26:57.876-07:002009-07-06T11:26:57.876-07:00Insightful comments.

One of the biggest hurdles is getting these companies to view open source as a viable alternative. They are so use to buying software via the traditional model.Kylehttp://www.4cornersinc.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7053946612746310477.post-82920977903647592032009-06-21T22:23:26.586-07:002009-06-21T22:23:26.586-07:00Jeff,

We are slogging through ...Amen and preach it, sir.

We are slogging through demos by administrative enterprise system vendors now (SunGard, DataTel, Oracle, et al.) now. SunGard, in particular, brings up their own "community source" initiatives as a selling point.

Barring a large and unexpected infusion of funds, I expect we'll be looking again at alternatives like OpenEAI and Kuali.Jeff (no, the other one)https://www.blogger.com/profile/04030611459552848949noreply@blogger.com
